Work Experience
2018 - 2021
Responsible for React Native development at 58.com.
Since the React Native ecosystem wasn't very mature in the early days, I (passively) gained some iOS/Android development experience. I know basic Objective-C/Java, though there's definitely a gap compared to professional mobile developers.
Some work experiences have been summarized in React Native Advanced, though the content is relatively old now, so please read with discretion.
2021-2023
Joined Bytedance in 2021, shifting focus from "cross-platform business development" to "Webview performance optimization".
During this period, I mainly optimized the company's internal mobile cross-platform web framework to achieve the best performance for in-app Web, while also implementing framework debugging and performance detection features.
In this role, we pushed boundaries by working with client teams to break Webview limitations and optimize performance at the App level, and collaborating with Bytedance's browser kernel team to optimize web page performance at the kernel level.
During this stage, I also wrote a series of articles on performance optimization. This content remains evergreen and is worth reading.
2023-2025
With the release of ChatGPT, almost every company joined this AI competition, and Bytedance was no exception. After 2023, my focus shifted to exploring how AI can be applied in real-world scenarios. I took many detours during this time but also achieved some milestones.
In 2025, we collaborated with the Seed team to release UI-TARS and open-sourced UI-TARS-desktop. This is one of the earliest open-source GUI Agents, currently with 24k stars. It can be used to control remote/local desktops and browsers to complete automated tasks.
During development, we discovered that Agent lacked a stable runtime environment, so we open-sourced Agent browser SDK and AIO Sandbox, aiming to provide comprehensive agent infra infrastructure. Unfortunately, due to company restructuring, these transitioned to internal maintenance. Otherwise, we could have accomplished much more.
